Children's Art Day
If you were strolling through the St. Michaels Farmer’s Market on a recent
beautiful fall Saturday, and among the chrysanthemums and cabbages you
noticed a group of very young and enthusiastic artists painting, you no doubt
happened upon the Children’s Art Day.

This annual event is sponsored by the St. Michaels Art League to interest
local elementary school children in the arts.  As it has turned out, this has
not been a problem!  Each year over 20 budding artists eagerly grab some
brushes, paints and a canvas and set about creating a masterpiece (or two).
In our fast-paced world of video games and action toys, it was reassuring to
see how quickly  our novice artists became totally involved in making art.

Throughout the morning the children were assisted by local artists from the
St. Michaels Art League.  Judging by the broad smiles on the children’s
faces, and the treasured paintings being carried out of the park, this effort
has clearly been an unqualified success.

We hope to see you all this September - see
Calendar for this year's date.
