The St. Michaels Art League, a 501(C)3 corporation, strives to bring art
awareness to the community of St. Michaels, Maryland and its environs.
Presently there are over 185 active members. Solid monthly programs
that feature quality art talks and demos, and an open welcoming spirit
are the heart of SMAL’s continued growth and success.
What else do we do? A dedicated core of volunteers hosts 6 to 8
classes and workshops each year; sponsors a free "Children’s Art Day"
in the park; awards over $6,000 in scholarships each year to high
school art students heading to college; annually donates original house
renderings to the house tour hosts of "Christmas in St. Michaels"; holds
weekly member Paint-Togethers; hosts an annual “Arty Party” with a
special invited speaker, for members, their guests and the community
at large; publishes a monthly newsletter; sponsors 8 to 10 successful
judged art exhibits and shows at a variety of venues; and hosts "Paint
The Town, St. Michaels", a week-long summer art festival and com-
petition in the heart of our town.
The Art League's mission is to further the visual arts and bring art to our
community. Members are encouraged to enhance their creativity, learn
new skills, share ideas with others interested in art, and support each
others artistic endeavors. Our members agree that the St. Michaels Art
League is the creative spirit of this very special town and, most
importantly, we have fun.
