Local Color
The Local Color show is held each year in the Tidewater Inn in Easton, during the last three days
of the Plein Air-Easton Competition.  The event includes a reception, the presentation of awards,
and various demonstrations by invited artists.  The event is sponsored by the St. Michaels Art
League and the Working Artists Forum and is held under the auspices of the Plein Air-Easton
Competition.

The exhibit is open to all artists residing in the five-county Mid-Shore area (Caroline, Kent,
Dorchester, Queen Anne and Talbot) and who are not otherwise participating in the Plein Air-
Easton Competition.  Entries for this exhibit must be landscape paintings of the Eastern Shore,
as seen from the local artist's perspective.  This is a juried competition, and all paintings entered
must be painted "en plein air".

As an active Art League member, you may have wished that a broader audience of art enthusiasts
could view your paintings, and
this is one annual venue to fulfill that objective. As part of the Plein
Air Festival each July, this is the one place for art tourists, and there are MANY, to view a collec-
tion of juried pieces of local art. Local Art means paintings by people who reside on the Eastern
Shore.

Next year, make sure you photograph your work as you finish each piece, and get ready to submit
three samples with the nominal entry fee when the "Call to Artists" is released. You won't be sorry,
as you and many others wander around looking at the wonderful art produced by artists from
Laguna Beach to D.C.,
your work will also be on view.
